Featured Dog - Chloe Belle
Meet Chloe, or Chloe Belle as I like to call her because all dogs have middle names. She is a 5-year-old Corgi and she's good at it!
Chloe and I enjoy morning walks together on a regular basis. When I walk in the door she comes zooming around the corner and launches herself into my arms as I crouch down to greet her. I don't exactly know when she started doing this, but it makes me so happy.
Chloe loves her walks but sometimes, if there is construction going on in the neighborhood or loud trucks, she hesitates. Then, we just walk the other way.
This morning on our walk, we heard some sea lions in the water (Chloe lives on the shore of Puget Sound). There were several of them in the water, and, although they were so far out it was hard to see them, it sounded like they were right next to us. Their barking was of concern to Chloe Belle and it took several minutes of her carefully listening and observing her environment before she felt it was safe to continue her walk. I had a little chuckle and told her their bark was worse then their bite. I'm not sure she believed me.
Chloe and I have been walking together for almost a year now and I look forward to her walks. This charming and engaging little dog always brightens my day with her soft fur, warm eyes and mischievous manner. She is a bit of a clown and will do anything for a salmon treat. She tolerates any kind of weather and I have yet to have her say no to a walk.
Everyone in her neighborhood knows who she is and her friends always say hello to her, even if they don't know who I am.
Chloe also has some crow friends. Now, I don't know if she considers the crows her friends but the crows consider HER their friend because they equate her with salmon treats. I mean, sometimes I will fling a few treats behind me for the crows. They now know this and will wait for us along our route. Chloe has gotten used to the crows and when she sees or hears them, she asks for her treat first…then I can share with the crows. 🐦⬛
