Introduction to Northwest Tails

Hi there! I’m Holly and I want to share my dog stories with you. Let me take this time to give you some background about me. I have been working with dogs on a professional level for over 35 years. I mean, I’m not THAT old, I’ve just been doing this work since I was very young.

My first real job was a pet sitting gig when I was 12. Seriously. I was 12. That summer I also worked at a local vet’s office, doing scut work, but I loved it! When I was 20, I got a job as a kennel hand at a local kennel. It’s still probably one of my most favorite jobs. I spent my days with dogs. I fed them, watered them, cleaned up after them, taught them how to use the dog doors and generally made sure they were happy. I had my favorites and loved the repeat clients.

When I was 26, I started my own pet sitting company in Michigan. That was in 1994. The company is still going, even though I’ve moved to Seattle. Special Pet Care Services is an award winning pet sitting and dog walking service that is still serving the Blue Water Area. We moved to Seattle in 2015 and by 2016, I knew I had to go back to work. I created NW Dog Walking Company and set out to meet all the dogs in my area. I also decided to create a dog photography company, which wasn’t as easy as I had anticipated it would be. =) Sometimes, things are hard, but I never gave up on dogs.

I have many stories to share about the good and the bad sides of working with dogs for an entire lifetime. I’ve battled illnesses, compassion fatigue, burn out and betrayal. It hasn’t always been easy, but it’s always been about dogs.

I hope you’ll join me on this journey.

I look forward to sharing it all with you.

Holly
